Pen Pals? [Sep. 5th, 2007|09:22 am]
Camp Tawonga
I am going to London on September 6th, on a Study Abroad program. I will not be home until December 7th. If you wanna keep in touch (and I would love to hear from you all SO much), you can write me a facebook or myspace message, or be a man (or woman) and do it the RIGHT way, by writing me at

Adam Buxbaum

AIFS Student Centre

Dilke house

Malet Street

...I will return every single letter I get. I'll probably write a letter just about every night, so if you don't want me to lavish all my attention onto my girlfriend and my parents, you better write!

Cheers [Oct. 30th, 2005|12:45 pm]
Camp Tawonga

So I heard the song "In Da Club" by 50 Cent and it made me really campsick because I remembered our Haifa cheer to it, sess 3 2003:

Go, go, go, go Haifa, it's your birthday
We gonna party like it's the first day
We gonna straight show you up in the worst way
Cuz you know Haifa knows what's up cuz it's our birthday!
You can find us in the camp
Unit full of love
We got what you need if you're into makin' love
We're into reproducin'
We ain't into messin' up
So if you want some spirit
Come to Haifa and you'll hear it
(chai* chai ** chai ** * l'chayim)

Does anyone remember their favorite unit or bunk cheers? How do they go?

I'd rather be at Camp Tawonga,
Rachel :)

Hi! [Oct. 16th, 2005|04:31 pm]
Camp Tawonga

Hey everyone! So, this is the first community I've ever joined, so you guys should feel honored. I'm Rachel (probably one of the billion Rachel's but whatever) and I went on the FIRST TSL ALASKA in 2004. I was in G8 the three previous summers, session 2 in '01 and '02 and session 3 in '03. I think I know some people here... Hey Esther! Jenna-- G8tion?? Elspeth, I totally talked to your mom on Erev Rosh Hashanah about parents chaperoning MSS tours, but I'm not sure we've really ever officailly met. Sophie, I think you were in G9 one of the years I was in G8. Marielle and Sara, I think we were in G8 together at least once... In any case, this is making me SOOOO campsick! Aaah!

BTW, does anyone else love that Brian Permutt is in the picture on the info page about this community? Because I do.

I miss camp.

I want to go back there so badly, you guys have no idea. (Well actually I'm sure you do.) But I'm going into my junior year in high school and I'm too old. I spent five wonderful summers there but I will NEVER BE ABLE TO GO AGAIN. Well, unless I go as a CIT or SIT ... I'm thinking about that. Or on a Quest.

So here comes my question: Who has been on a Quest? Have you been on/know someone who has been on the Magical Mystery quest? And, will they make exceptions on the age limits for Quests? I skipped a grade, so I'll be going into 12th grade next summer, but I'll be the age of someone entering 11th.

Heh. This is bad, you guys. I loathe backpacking and not showering daily with a passion, but I miss the atmosphere of camp so badly that I think I want to go on a Quest.

Is Pipeline private Tawonga property, or could anyone (theoretically) go to that part of the Tuolumne River? How would you access it?

This community is awesome. I can't believe I didn't find it until today!

I also joined the Camp Tawonga alumni network on Yahoo (found it today, too) but haven't been approved yet.

So, is anyone going to Israel in the Gardens? I went two years ago, I think. I have the fluorescent green Tawonga shirt. :) I don't know if I can go this year because I have a conflict with a volleyball tournament, and studying with finals, but I want to! It's worth the 2 hour drive just to get the painfully bright Tawonga shirt.

Oh lordy lordy lordy, for those of you who live in San Francisco (or maybe this applies to people who live outside of it) but today was extremely beautiful. I took a walk through Golden Gate Park and I checked the thermometer and it said it was almost 80 degrees! And, like all bay area dwellers know it is impossible to not stumble across a group of hippies strumming their guitars in a feild (especially since I was strolling through a park), which of course only made me think of one thing - Camp! Ah, I miss it so much right now. I'm sure everyone here can relate...
